Kefir, Or What is Known as Indian mushroom, is a fermented milk that dates back to the nineteenth century in the Caucasus region and is currently consumed all over the world for its great benefits. It is produced by placing kefir granules in fresh milk, the granules are colonies of live yeasts and beneficial bacteria. Kefir has a sour taste with a slight gaseous sting due to the activity of bacteria. Kefir microbes consumes sugars as food to create an ideal environment for good bacteria to thrive and therefore it is considered one of the most powerful fermented food as it can contain more than 60 strains of benefical bacteria. Not exposed to heat, unpasteurized, naturally, fermented store in the refrigerator at 4°C Celsius or less , valid for use up to two weeks from the date of production.
